Tesla App v4.50.5 Update Adds Low Power Mode, Accessory Power Controls, and Enhanced Charging Interface

In November, Tesla has officially rolled out App version 4.50.5 for iOS, introducing a redesigned Charging tab and several new power-management features that give owners more precise control over how their vehicles consume energy when parked. The update also improves the layout for viewing recent Supercharging sessions, providing a cleaner and more data-rich interface.

Redesigned Charging Tab

The new Charging tab brings together all key functions into a single, easy-to-navigate page.
Owners can now:

  • Adjust the charge limit;

  • Schedule charging times;

  • Review recent charging history;

  • Manage payment methods.

The interface also displays more detailed session data, including kWh delivered, session duration, and charging credits used, if applicable.

A new “Rate Session” button allows users to share feedback directly through the app — part of Tesla’s broader effort to enhance the Supercharger experience across Tesla Canada and other markets.

New Power-Management Controls

Alongside the UI refresh, Tesla added two new toggles previously available only inside the vehicle: Low Power Mode and Keep Accessory Power On.

  • Low Power Mode

This mode helps reduce idle energy consumption when the car is parked.
According to Tesla’s in-app description, activating Low Power Mode automatically disables features that draw standby power, including:

  • Sentry Mode

  • Accessory Power

  • Keep Climate On

  • Camp Mode

  • Scheduled Preconditioning

  • Cabin Overheat Protection

Even with this feature enabled, essential functions such as connectivity and app interactions remain available. Tesla notes that drivers in cold climates may still notice faster battery depletion.

Interestingly, some functions behave differently while charging — Sentry Mode and accessory power stay active during charging, while climate-related modes re-enable only when Supercharging.

  • Keep Accessory Power On

This feature allows USB ports and low-voltage outlets to remain powered after the driver exits the vehicle, making it useful for dashcams or device charging.
Tesla cautions that this feature draws additional energy even if no device is connected.

It’s worth noting that Tesla briefly removed this ability in late 2024, only to bring it back with improved controls earlier this year — showing Tesla’s continued attention to user feedback in markets like Tesla Canada and Tesla Toronto.

Improved Charging Session Display

The update also refines how the app displays recent charging activity.
Users can now see:

  • A location map of their last session;

  • The associated vehicle image;

  • Clearly labeled charging statistics such as kWh and duration.

These small interface updates make it easier for owners to track energy usage — whether they’re managing a Model Y, Model 3, or even one of Carnex’s used Teslas in Mississauga or Toronto.
